Opening Night at McGettigan’s New York
McGettigan’s made its American debut on Thursday June 4th 2015 when ‘McGettigan’s NYC’ opened its doors in the heart of Midtown West, within steps from the Theatre District. The opening night was a great success and saw hundreds of eager revelers pour through the doors and enjoying the celebrations until the early hours! Entertainment on the evening was provided by ‘The Coronas’; one of Ireland’s top bands.
The very first McGettigan’s Pub debuted five decades previously on Dublin’s Queen Street in the 1960s. Since that day, and with the company’s global expansion, the McGettigan’s commitment to offering the modern Irish experience has caught on internationally. With locations now open to visitors throughout Ireland, Asia, the Middle East and now, the United States.
The McGettigan’s brand is steeped in Irish family history and is using this history and experience to bring a real flavor of Ireland to a global market. It is a family-run business at its core, run by father and son team Jim and Dennis McGettigan. Jim debuted the first McGettigan’s location in Dublin and it remains a family business today – with personal involvement in the brand’s expansion, and a standing commitment to the company’s mission to provide “The Modern Irish Experience” – with each location, no matter the location, reflecting modern Irish food, culture, sports and music.

As of June 2015 McGettigan’s Bars are in operation at ten locations throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The outlets are located in Dublin, Letterkenny, Limerick, Galway, Abu Dhabi, three in Dubai (at Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai International Airport), and one in Singapore. McGettigan’s NYC marked the brand’s tenth location, and first in the United States.
